UNN: War In Female Hostel Over Water Scarcity (Photo News) (with ref. from unnpals.com)

It was a bad sunday. One that turned out to be the opposite of what it should be for the female students of the prestigious Nigerian University.
Early sunday morning (05/07/2015), the female students staying at Okpara Hostel, University of Nigeria, Nsukka had woken up, hoping to go and worship God in their various churches. They met a different thing as there was no water anywhere in the Campus.
As they waited and hoped, a water tanker stopped in front of the hostel and hell was let loose. The girls trooped out in their numbers and swooped on the tanker. Hundreds of buckets and gallons clashed and caution was let loose.
As they “fought” and “died” for the fountain of life, passers-by watched on (most of them males). The tanker driver mocked them and referred to them as, “animals without control”.
The girls expressed their displeasure over the scarcity of water and lamented its dire effect on them. One of them who simply introduced herself as Ella had this to say:
“This is not fair…this is just not fair. This is one of the reasons they drove us out of school like animals two weeks ago. Now, the problem is still with us…no water. We can’t even go to church”.
She also added that electricity has been fluctuating ever since. Another girl who said she is Mercy admitted:
“No light…no water…no nothing! I don’t even understand this country anymore”
Unnpals.com reliably gathered that water and electricity supply has been unstable in the school since the students returned from the “mid-semester break”.

Meet Miss Face of UNN 2015 (with ref. from Unnpals.com)

The Season 2 of Face of University of Nigeria Award (FOUNA) has come and gone. The last edition saw Ezeorjika Juliet emerge as the winner over about 20 contestants (male and female). The winner for the male category was Akparanta Toochi Ernest who has not been succeeded for two years running.
On the 3rd of July 2015, the University of Nigeria community was agog with activities. Celebrities thronged in their numbers into the prestigious University. High point of the event was the arrival of Nollywood super star, Patience Ozokwor (Mama G).
There were 13 contestants. The thirteen of them represented the popular buildings and locations in UNN. They were MISS ROBESON, MISS JACKSON, MISS CEC, MIS CARVER, MISS SUB, MISS GEORGE MARION, MISS EBEBI, MISS PAA, MISS HALL OF FAME, MISS JIMBAZ, MISS RPSN and others.
The firs runner up, Miss Jackson Nkwocha Precious-Flora Chinemerem Nickname: UNBRANDED State: IMO STATE who is the current TAFSSA QUEEN (Queen of Theatre and Film Studies) revealed to unnpals.com that she lost because there were things she ought to have done which she failed to do. She however, admitted that she had fun, concluding that, “it was a contest….a game in which there must be a winner or a looser. I can’t say I lost completely…I just didn’t make it as the winner”
And after all the rigorous tasks they were subjected to, a winner was established. Jane Francis Enemuo Chidimma is from Anambra State but lives in Abuja. She is in the Department of Crop Sciences, 200 level, University of Nigeria Nsukka. She stays at Room 306 Awolow Hostel, UNN. Fair, quiet, reserved, Jane is the shy type.
Hear the shy Jane:
“I never wanted to do this. My boyfriend got me the form and I rejected it…this is the first time I am appearing on such a big stage. I must say it was a miracle…I never expected this, seriously”.
She was modest enough to admit that she never expected it. Chidimma went on:
“I know I don’t deserve this…those other people have had the experience one way or the other. I am a very shy person and all my friends know this. You will notice that each time I stepped on that stage, people just stared…no one cheered me”.
And this really compounded her anxiety. But she kept on. She felt really very embarrassed when she failed to explain her traditional attire.

“I felt like I shouldn’t return to stage. I felt awful”.
But after everything, she conquered! She stunned the audience when she “unconsciously” reeled out the 5 Faculties in UNEC. Her dinner gown was also marvelous. When Jay Cee Smart of unnpals.com asked her what next she has in her plans, she replied:
“I feel great…I think I should take a shot at modeling. Its awesome. The experience has thought me that I can do this”.
Jayne, as she is called by the “few” friends she has revealed that this is the happiest moment of her life. The moment she never expected. She collected the crown and presently, Miss Jane Francis Enemuo Chidi is the Miss Face of UNN.
