UNN Kings and Queens Forum is a registered students’
organisation of all the Faculties and Departmental Kings and Queens including
registered club Kings and Queens. The forum was founded in 2012 due to the need
to inculcate the desired character that is worthy of a University of Nigeria King
or Queen, seek to promote love and enkindle the spirit of friendship among
members, regulate their behavioural excesses and finally regulate and manage
pageantry in the school to avoid bastardization and pay head to due process in
pageantry with integrity and zero competition.
What is today known as University of Nigeria Kings and Queens
Forum , started as biological science kings and queens forum by the 2011 set of
FOBSSA Kings and Queens with the help of the then faculty of biological science
Director of Socials Mr Ikechukwu Okoli,
with the aim of promoting unity, love and friendship among FOBSSA Kings and Queens
and also make a positive change in our lives and the lives of our fellow
students as people that are being looked up to as models and Royal ambassadors
of the University. These Royalties who are the founding fathers of the forum
later saw the need to expand to what is today known as the University of
Nigeria Kings and Queens forum with the help of the two major stake holders
from the FOBSSA Royal Family who are Chimaobi
Okpara (King of the Jungle 2011) and Chukwujamma
Divine (Mr Green 2011) special thanks must also go to the former MR and Miss UNN, 2011 Onuigbo Precious and
Anazodo Chinelo who saw the need for the enlarged house and gave it their
support.
However the task of building a vibrant kings and queens’
forum wasn’t an easy one owing to the antisocial environment prevailing at that
time until we successfully choose a staff adviser, Dr Atama C. I, a Senior Lecturer in the department of Zoology and Environmental
Biology who helped us to register with the Student Affairs Department and since
then, have been of great support towards the progress of the forum. The forum succeeded in holding its first
induction ceremony of the 2013 set of royalties and thereafter organized the
first orientation ceremony of its member to educate them on what it means to be
a king or queen ambassador of the university. Today, the University of Nigeria
kings and queens’ forum has risen to an enviable height with over one hundred
members drawn from all the faculties and departments in the school and has
continued to coordinate and supervise all pageantries in the school. It has also
succeeded in hosting the first ever celebrities night in the school and other cooperate events such as Miss UNN 2014
and now, presently organizing Mr and Miss UNN pageantry for 2015.
Our school has a history of setting the pace. We have once
again set the pace for other higher institutions to follow. However, as we
continue to move on with the task of building this noble organisation, we must
continue to ensure that it remains a place that will make us better students,
better kings and queens, better models, and better royal ambassadors of our University.
