Miss UNN 2015 is here at last, brought to you by UNN Kings and Queens Forum in conjuction with Super Nova. It held at Ekpo Convocation Arena on Saturday, 5th July.
Highlights of the event include addresses from the sitting Mr. and Miss. UNN, live performance by some artistes like the Edge Dancers among others.
The contestants were called up the stage to introduce themselves. There were twelve contestants in all, and were taken through series of series of performances like choreography, dance, catwalk,
Music was, however, not consistent due to a number of faults from the DJ. This forced Edge Dancers to end their performance abruptly only to be called back after the issue was rectified.
Royalty runway was an opportunity for the royalties to walk through the stage to showcase their attire. After this another interruption resulted from a fracas backstage. Though we are certain about what happened backstage but music was also interrupted at that time, making the audience hear the voices from backstage as loudly as possible.
One thing is clear, I heard someone shout repeatedly, "If you are not a contestant, leave backstage." before some boys and girls began to emanate from backstage.

Next was time for a display of ability and talents within three minutes. Contestant One reacted to the story of the cucumber girl and she said since she does not know why the girl resorted to the act, she would rather take an empathetic stand. According to her, the girl might have done so because she had no one to talk to as concerns some personal issues. Thus, she advised that we learn to be close to our friends and show them our readiness to listen and help.
Contestant Two fashioned a style from a piece of clothing material she brought to the stage. Contestant Three sang while Contestant Four gave a poem through which she preached perseverance, focus and determination.
Contestant Five still did her dance well despite the eratic performance of the DJ. Contestant Six sang "I will run away" Contestant Seven gave a speech while Contestant Eight did a dance drama just like Contestant Nine. Contestant Ten came with fashion designing and from a wrap of cloth made her design as did Contestant Eleven while Contestant Twelve played her violin.
When the time came for showcasing creative and traditional wears, it was another round of waiting as the anchors kept shouting "Contestant Number One!" while the audinece waited. It took the return of the anchors to the backstage with shome chidings to get her and other contestants out. Awards were given to them based on their performances on camp before the announcement of the winner, Miss. Aludogbu Miracle, a 200L Combined Social Sciences student, and the first and second runners-up.
